Wirelessly control your iPod. Using your brand new Timex watch.

Today Timex announced a new sports watch that can wirelessly communicate with your iPod or iPhone (as long as the transmitter is turned off).  This watch could then be used to remote control your iPod.

The Ironman iControl watch lets you pause, rewind, select tracks, change the volume etc. while also containing all the traditional controls that allow you to manage your workout.  All the while you can continue your jog…

The fact that the iControl watch costs $125 isn’t really a problem because Apple seems to have created, whether inadvertently or not, a status symbol in the iPod.  Owners want you to know that they have one (and just wait until the iPhone craze hits the UK).

And the fact that, since the watch is on your wrist and you can’t do anything with that hand while you operate the watch with your other hand, you coincidentally need both of your hands to operate the iControl.  This is obviously far more convenient than rummaging for your iPod in your pocket.  (And the iPhone does come with those clever headphones that have a built-in remote control).

Anyway, it’s another iPod gadget.  How will we cope if we don’t have one?
