A Baptist pastor in Florida has instituted “iThemed” services and has bribed new congregants with iTunes gift cards and even iPhones.
The series of sermons at the Church by the Glades is called “i: Successful Living in a Self-Absorbed World.” Imagine then the irony when you go to church for the first time, partially in an effort to win an iPhone, to be preached to about how self-absorbed you may be.
I suppose the pastor, David Hughes, would say that getting folk in the door is the first step… In his eight year tenure, the current pastor has increased weekly attendance from 500 to 2,500. He’s not doing too bad I guess.
