Apple Set to Launch New iPod Designs

American multi-media giants, Apple are to hold a special media event this week at which they are expected to unveil models for the new and improved iPods together with an upgraded version of Apple TV.

The event, scheduled for the 1st September, is set to take place at the Yerba Buena Center of Arts in San Francisco, California and has been the subject of much rumour and speculation surrounding Apple’s plans to launch its latest designs both the iPod Touch and iPod Nano.

The much anticipated Touch is believed to have been fitted with the forward facing camera that has been a success with the iPhone4. The camera positioned into the front panel of the camera allows users to engage in FaceTime video chat, much like a webcam attached to your PC or laptop. The latest technology identifies callers through their email address and operates using Wi-Fi connection.

Leaked reports of a “significant redesign” for the iPod Nano have also got the tongues of industry insiders wagging. A memo issued by investors, Kaufman Bros. suggested the new Nano could be even smaller and will function without a click wheel in an attempt to rejuvenate sales of what was once Apple’s best selling personal media commodity.

However, the representative stressed, “We frankly are not sure if this model will see the light of day, but would be a big departure from the design it has had since 2005 when it replaced the iPod mini. From our take, a radical refresh may make sense to jumpstart what was once its top-selling iPod.”

It had been expected that the event would be a showcase for the much talked about Apple TV. The American’s recently angered British Broadcasting Executives at ITV with proposals they are to re-brand the internet TV network iTV, but a picture of an acoustic guitar on the invitations has left invitees guessing whether the proposed TV developments will even get an airing. Apple’s Chief Executive Steve Jobs, all but confirmed suspicions by announcing the company are working on ways of improving the application before releasing it for mainstream consumption.
