Apple is getting ready to launch yet another new product which is set to once again revolutionise the gadget market, the new trailblazing gadget expected to bridge the gap between a mobile phone and a laptop computer is rumoured to be launched at the end of January 2010 and will likely be called the iSlate.
In earlier days this device was described as a “tablet” because of the devices expected look, similar to an iPod Touch but with a larger 10-inch screen, making it convenient to watch video, search the Internet and read digital books. Many analysts also consider that the device will most likely be set up to handle TV and newspaper subscriptions through a wireless connection. With seemingly unending amount of apps that are being produced for the iPhone the scope of what the iSlate will be able to do is all very exciting.
Technology websites have all reported that Apple is preparing to call the device the iSlate this is largely down to Apple buying the rights to the Internet domain name iSlate.com in anticipation.
The release date is rumoured to be in Jan 2010 because Apple have booked space for several days at an arts centre in San Francisco in preparation for an announcement on January 26th 2010. If this follows usual Apple timetables we should see the device “iSlate” in US shops from March and as usual 6 months late for Europe in time for the next Christmas.
With Apple seemingly never putting a foot wrong this new device will almost certainly be another huge hit for the the Apple brand and since the rumoured release date shares in Apple have jumped to a record high pushing the companies value up to a staggering $188 billion.
Apple’s new “tablet” is set to compete with devices like the low-cost netbooks and the Amazon Kindle, since their release Amazon have led the market on e-readers, with the launch the iSlate, Apples devise will likely combine the functionality of both the netbook and Kindle, offer more and package it all in visually stunning device.
Though maybe this time it wont be a hit.
